The Pondering of a BodyTalker

We all have felt unwanted at times particularly when we where children. “ One of the very best predictors for how any child turns out—in terms of happiness, social and emotional development, leadership skills, meaningful relationships, and even academic and career success—is whether they developed security from having at least one person who showed up for them.” (from The Power of Showing Up by Dr. Siegel and Dr. Bryson). Did you have someone to consistently show up for you? Someone to make you feel safe, seen and soothed? If you didn’t, it’s really easy to be unable to show up for your own kids. It’s just something you didnt have modeled for you. This is where the practice of re-parenting yourself is important. I spent my childhood feeling very alone detached from my own emotions. My mom is great engaging with really young kids but as soon as they are old enough to have problems her avoidance attachment development made it uncomfortable if not impossible to be there through big emotions and conflict. Leaving me to deal it alone and ultimately learn to repress it all. I mirrored this with my oldest son. I retreated from or punished his big emotions and damaged our attachment relationship. My journey of rebuilding that relationship stemmed from me doing the work on my own emotional intelligence. I am now able to show up for my kids and in times when reactivity takes over I learn from it and use it to model how life is messy, and how to repair mistakes. This is the premise and passion of the Personal Evolution class. Re-parenting ourselves so she can show up for those who need is and for ourselves. Personalevolution.eventcreate.com class starts October 13. In person in Saskatoon or join us virtually. (at Joanne Fisher Family BodyTalk)

Feedback from a distance session client: “The session was spot on. Uncanny but cool how distance sessions and BodyTalk can access that type of information. I also had a dream the night before last where I ended up telling someone not to Fuck with me! So Thank you. Much needed session today.”

In BodyTalk the first thing we check is if Permissions are a priority. These come up when we need to give ourselves permission to move on, to let go, heal or make a change etc. Today it was a permission to be “unfuckwithable” that came up. People are always amazed at how we BodyTalkers can pull up exactly what the issue is and help them to work through it even at distance. I often work by using myself as a surrogate for the session and then send an audio summary of the session after. Still so amazingly accurate and effective. Ready to try BodyTalk? I’m available for in person, online or remote distance sessions like this one.

Personal Evolution is a personal growth class for parents, parents to be and anyone looking to better understand themselves and grow from their experiences. Our partners, children, those closest to us are our biggest teachers as they trigger us the most. What are these triggers? How did you get to be so reactive? This class explores this through both Nature and Nurture. Some of it is genetic, some generational trauma and conditioning but it is mostly how our neural circuitry was formed in early life. This class blends together the current science of infant neurodevelopment, neuroplasticity with generational healing, energy medicine, conscious parenting, attachment theory, yoga, meditation and more. It is a class to sift through the layers of experiences, conditioning, belief systems, learned limitations to start to uncover what is at your core. To relearn to feel your feelings, to become proactive instead of reactive and to stop stressing out over the little things.

9 week Class session Starting October 13.
Join in person or virtually.

Who are you without all those layers of belief systems and conditioning? I will help you peel through them and learn to recreate the life you deserve…. Because we can’t teach our kids what we don’t know ourselves and without conscious awareness we will keep carrying on the old patterns of the past. Come rediscover yourself. It is time for transformation. Details in bio or personalevolution.eventcreate.com

The info below is great but the reason I re-shared it is because as a BodyTalk practitioner I am able to help you resolve the anxiety, I’m able to help teach you the skills to rest when baby sleeps if you cannot. Some of these skills are part of my new Personal Evolution class but private work with BodyTalk is always so beneficial. As an infant sleep Educator I can tell you that there will be constant changes and ups and downs with your child’s sleep but the thing you have control over is your response and how you take care of yourself. I’m here to help. #bodytalksystem

…. @heysleepybaby’s post:
How many times have you been told to sleep when your baby sleeps? Even though it’s well-meaning advice, for some moms, this couldn’t be harder!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many moms postpartum are dealing with anxiety or insomnia. They can’t simply sleep at the drop of a hat just because their baby is napping. Moms with anxiety might worry about falling asleep, be afraid to let the baby sleep without watching or holding them, or have racing thoughts that prevent them from relaxing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you’re struggling with anxiety or insomnia, I encourage you to seek some guidance from a trusted healthcare provider. You deserve rest and you certainly need sleep to function.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Some better advice might be: REST and RECHARGE when baby sleeps. Practice some deep breathing, listen to a book or a podcast, watch a show you enjoy, or take a walk outside while baby sleeps in a carrier or stroller. If you CAN nap, great! But most of us can’t. Whatever you do, don’t try to be “productive” while your baby sleeps. Give yourself permission to rest and fill your cup, whatever that looks like for you!

Old school parenting methods didn’t teach us how to feel our feelings, to process and release our emotions, how to be in control of our responses and not be a victim of our environment and others. In fact, the way most of us where raised taught us to repress our emotions, not to feel - to be emotionally un-intelligent and reactive. My training as an Infant Sleep Educator in the neurological development in infancy gave me great understanding of how our childhood experiences (as well as genetic) create the foundation of our mental and emotional wellbeing and intelligence. ⁣
⁣
I created this new class to share this information, so we can know better to do better. A class that will help you to understand yourself, be attuned with yourself so you can be in tune with others, re-learn to feel. Because we can’t teach our kids what we don’t know ourselves and without conscious awareness we will keep carrying on the old patterns of the past. ⁣
A class that will leave you feeling relaxed and lighter as we release our old baggage. A class that will help you to become more conscious of your reactivity and the origins of it. Learning to be more responsible- as response-able, able to control our responses. Come rediscover yourself. It is time for transformation.⁣

Did you know I offer a 12 pack of child BodyTalk sessions? Most use this over 6 months having their child treated bi-weekly but it can be 1 session per month. The only catch is you need to do all 12 within a year. No upfront payment needed— Pay each time service is rendered! That makes it only $37.50 per session!!! Or $75/month doing bi-weekly. An individual child session is $60. Not sure you want to commit? Book in one session pay the $60 and if within the month you want to book again take the next session for only $15 to start the package. This is for children under 18 (though exceptions have been made for medically dependant 20 somethings) in person in #saskatoon or remote sessions anywhere in the world. Typically I don’t treat children under 10 in person, but again case to case basis.
PLUS the package is transferable within a family. Buy a package and use it for all your kids. When you’ve done 12 the rate remains as long you continue to book regularly. (Adult 12- pack is the same).
Working with children is so amazing as it’s when they are forming all their belief systems about the world and themselves. The events shape their lives and brains. BodyTalk is stress reduction, healing pain, unearthing detrimental patterns as well as helping the body to heal physically. FisherFamilyBodyTalk.com

Posted @withregram • @nurture_neuroscience_parenting: There are many ways to rewire the brain and create new healthy brain connections post infancy. What happens in infancy stays but we can build new brain connections to interact with the brain areas built in infancy.

There is no perfect infancy. There is no perfect brain. Experiences from infancy can have a lasting impact.

Nurturing, responsive, emotionally supportive experiences can shape the nervous system to be resilient, flexible, cognitive, curious, social, self regulating and calm.

Fearful experiences can shape our emotional brain to be anxious, hypervigilant, fearful and reactive OR depressive, shut down and frozen OR addicted OR a combination.

There are many therapies available that can rewire the emotional brain and cognitive brain to change brain circuits created in infancy that do not serve us.

It can take a lot of work to find a therapy that helps. When you find it - it takes lots of time and dedication to create new brain circuits. The infant brain is easy to change. It is possible but very difficult to change the brain later in life.

If your baby sleeps on their back (which is the current standard for safe infant sleep)…

Please
Please

Please ensure you are balancing that out with lots of tummy-to-play.

Everyone loves to make eye contact with a baby which is easiest when they are on their backs. Try getting on the baby’s level (on the floor or an even higher flat surface) and make eye contact while they are on their tummy.

When a baby is laid prone (on their tummy) they receive stimulation of their vagus nerve when makes them feel regulated, calm, and connected.

Making eye contact stimulates their social nervous system to feel supported during the hard work of tummy play.

Remember when they look away, they are signaling that they need a break.

If they begin to kick a lot, try placing your hands against their feet so they can push off. You might witness something amazing happen like rolling, extending, or twisting.
All of this is helpful for unwinding stress in their body, and building tolerance for hard work while in direct connection to a calm and regulated source -you!
